I finished my first pair of Jaywalkers!
- Pattern by Grumperina
- Yarn: Super Soxx 50
- Needles: Bamboo 2,0 mm needles (15cm, Prym)
I enjoyed knitting this fabulous pattern by Grumperina. It took some time to find the correct needle size. I started with 2,5 mm needles but the socks turned out too wide for my legs. Then I changed the pattern into a „decrease, knit 6, increase, knit 6″ (instead of knit 7) but they got to tight. Changing the needle-size and sticking to the original pattern then produced a very well-fitting sock. As many knitters mentioned before, these socks don’t have much stretch. This is a small problem when trying to get them on or off but doesn’t influence the wearing comfort.
The stripes match!
The issue with knitty has always been the same recently: Why do I get completely excited when the new knitty is up – and get complete disappointed just some minutes later?
Normally there are one or two patterns where the only comment can be something like „What the hell was she thinking?“ In this issue most of the patterns are just unspectacular – as it seems to me.
- A knitted skirt. I think a woman needs a knitted skirt like a hole in the head. It’s a different thing for little girls, though. It looks kinda cute but I’m not sure whether my two-year old niece (and especially: her mum) would like it. Well, I think, they wouldn’t.
- A revealing top. Am I the only one who still likes to wear a bra? I mean, wearing a bra under this garment would look completely stupid. But, running around and showing everybody that you don’t wear anything underneath ain’t me cup of tea, either.
- A quite interesting top. This looks good on the model and the construction seems very interesting (take a look at the „off the body“-picture!) My problem with waterfall necklines is only that my bust is simply to small. Everything that is there is like „washed away“…
- A cute short-sleeved cardi. Well, cute. But then again, a bit granny-style, isn’t it?
- A strange top. It looks like the collar got halfway detached after washing or something.
- A nice sock pattern. Well, maybe this is the pattern I like best.
- Knitted Drawers. Ah, well, right, knitted drawers. What would knitty be without the WTF?-pattern?
I suppose there’s nothing in this issue which I’m going to do
