Merry Christmas to everybody out there!

Rentier3

Rudolph the Amigurumi Reindeer, made from this pattern (you have to register at Lion Brand but it’s free and they really offer a lot of free patterns). Made from some cotton yarn I found in my stash, presumably Catania or ONline Sandy. See more on Rudolph’s Ravelry-Page.

Today was judgement day for my little Beatrix. It was completely dried and I tried it on again. This was the result:

A bit too long. And especially much too wide. Especially at the tiny, tiny Miss Sophie bust. So I looked again at the model. She’s so cute! And it was clear that there was only one way to rescue Bea. It was a risky way, like cutting of one’s leg in ancient times to save a life – Bea went to the washer. 60° cycle. When I took her out of the washing machine I was shocked at first because she looked like she would be the perfect present for my three year old niece. But I didn’t give up. I pulled and stretched and was quite rude to my Bea. And she wasn’t offended but totally cooperative. This is the result:

Ok, we are a bit on the short side now – but at least that’s what I call „fitted“. If I could have controlled the felting process I’d say that 70% of it would have been enough for a perfect fit. But it’s simply not possible to do this with my washing machine. The moss stitch is still clearly visible and the whole thing now really feels like a jacket should feel – a bit stiff but I like it. Will take better photos when Bea is dried! Enough adventures for today.

The new knitty is up! I suppose it’s the biggest issue ever – 27 patterns!

I especially like ice queen and the two sock patterns chevrolace and toirneach. The toasty topper is pretty cute for toddlers and tudora seems like a fun and very useful quick knit.

Teddyjacke

So I started a little jacket for my little Teddy – the Miniature Cowichan Cardigan, to be precise.

Doing the colourwork was a lot of fun – and worked extremely well. I’m very slow at it but enjoy it a lot. Being on a kind of colourwork-flush I ordered yarn for the Ivy League Vest some minutes ago. Because basically there’s no difference between seven lines of colourwork over 90 stitches with two colors and a whole pullover in Miss-Sophie-size and 8 colours. Or did I miss something? We’ll see. I ordered the yarn here and chose free shipping. They mentioned that it will take some time, especially right now over the holiday season, but 53$ for ten strands in eight colours was much less than I would have expected. Let’s hope that it will slip through the custom office…

Teddy ate a bit too much honey for the jacket, but mom will see what she can do by blocking.

Beatrix is finished and photos will follow. It turned out well but not overwhelming. First, it’s a bit wide, second maybe not the most flattering fit for rather skinny girls and third the colour makes it look a bit like a traditional costume (what’s called „Tracht“ in Germany and quite popular, among sixty-year-olds…). I’ve dampened it and maybe it will look it bit better afterwards.
