I finally managed to take some nice pictures of my Beatrix:
- Pattern: Beatrix by Kim Hargreaves (bought together with the yarn as kit)
- Yarn: Rowan Felted Tweed, Colour cocoa
- Size: XS
- Needles: 4.5 bamboo circs
- Find out every detail on Ravelry!
The instructions were very clear, I can only recommend this pattern. Nevertheless I had some problems with gauge, had to go up from size 3.5 as recommended to 4.5 and my stitch gauge was slightly off. I got row gauge but my knitting was somehow too loose. It didn’t feel right and came out too wide in the end. Maybe that’s the reason why the seven balls of yarn contained in the kit weren’t enough. I had to buy an extra ball in a different dye lot – you can spot the difference but it’s only at the collar.
I decided to throw Bea in the washing machine for felting, and, although maybe it’s a bit short now, I really like the fit!
Here’s the photo I like best:

Very nice – I have that jacket on my queue, too.
Do you usually have gauge problems or is this a one-of-a-kind problem, maybe especially with Kim Hargreaves? I ask that, because I usually knit to gauge without any problems and I’d like to determine in advance, if I’d run into problems here.

Miss Sophie
I normally knit a bit too tight but changing the needle size always solved my problems. I’ve knit Bomber by Kim Hargreaves in Rowan Denim and there I had to rely on gauge because the yarn shrinks a lot after washing but there everything went absolutely smoothly.
If I had to do this jacket again I would use the recommended needlesize and add some rows if necessary because the whole garment just got too loose.
