I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist the title… So I finally finished the main part of my Ivy League Vest (pattern from IK Winter 2007) and came to cutting the steeks. It’s written in the instructions that for the model shown no reinforcement of the steeks was used and since I used the original (quite sticky) yarn I was too lazy to sew or crochet as well. Actually cutting through the steeks wasn’t as scary as I would have thought. Give it a try!

It’s funny, on the picture the vest looks like the many other ones on ravelry, quite neat, while I can see all the errors I made and my bad tension when I look at it in „real life“.
The next part is to pick up stitches from the sleeves and the neck and add some nice ribbing. Wish me luck that my steeks won’t unravel…

I do admit that I sometimes knit things and know exactly that I will never wear them. Like the Spring Shawl Surprise. I do them for the challenge and to learn something new. But after all, it’s a shawl so it’s in way useful.

What I never understood about knitting was doing „cozies“. I need a cozy for my hot-water bottle because otherwise I would burn my feet in the evening. My ears need „cozies“ when I cycle in winter because otherwise they would ache.

My mugs don’t need cozies. In fact the only effect of them seems to be to loose grip and spill hot tea all over my lap. And the absolutely last things that need cozies are fruit! By the way – take a look at the banana cozy. Am I the only one with strange thoughts about this picture?
